Oats Crepe

Dosa, Indian crepes is a very popular breafast item in India. I love to eat dosa with spicy coconut chutney or tangy tomato chutney. Dosas(Indian crepes) are usually made with fermented white rice and lentils batter.

I recently made oats dosa which does not require the process of fermentation. Thanks to the wonderful blog by Sharadha, I found out the recipe for oats dosa.
In the recipe, ghee is one of the ingredients. You can use corn oil or Earth balance instead of ghee. Sharadha also asks to put sour curd to the dosa batter. Well, I did not add the sour curd to the dosa batter, but the dosas were tasty!

My toddler also liked it! I have made oats dosas a couple of times in a span of two months.

Just a sidenote, why use corn oil for anything? Corn oil is one of the unhealthiest oils. Canola oil is much better for you. Or use olive oil/rice brain oil if you're so inclined.

Today, with more and more Indians being diagnosed with the lifestyle diseases like obesity, diabetes and heart problems, it is time to bring in a change in the way in which we eat. Eating habits vary among states and age groups, but in general Indians are prone to eating unhealthy and oily foods. If healthy dishes with very little oil and plenty of crunchy veggies and fruits can be prepared instead, we can start leading an improved and more productive life soon.
