Vitamin B12 is the only nutritient not present in vegan diet. Defiency of Vitamin B12 can cause everything from Cancer to Osteoporosis and Depression to Neural Tube defects. Vitamin B12 is required for the proper function and development of the
brain, nerves, blood cells, and many other parts of the body.
Vitamin B12 is available in meat and milk products. So, it is very important for Vegans to take Vitamin B12 supplement. I don't eat fortified foods regularly, so I make sure to take Vitamin B12 once in 15 days.
Whenever I talk with friends , family and cousins about Vegan diet, I always tell them about the impotance of taking Vitamin B12 supplement.
