PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is an amazing organization for protect innocent animals. I think PETA has played a pivotal role in convincing people to thrive on plant-based diet (vegan)...
Thanks to Ingrid Newkirk, and thousands of PETA volunteers across the world for selfless service. Today, we don't see elephants and lions performing in circus, as PETA has worked for years to stop "animal cruelty". Thanks to PETA, millions of students are using interactive computer simulations instead of killing frogs , cats, and pigs during "animal dissection".
Please visit PETA to know more about their amazing work...

Vegan Diet Can Cure Diabetes
Every day, the number of people suffering from Diabetes is increasing in India and across the world. India is known as the "Capital of Diabetes".
Diet rich in carbohydrates(white rice) and sugar is the main cause of diabetes. During my recent visit to India, I noticed that so many vegetarians were suffering from Diabetes. It breaks my heart to say that kids and young adults were suffering from Diabetes.
Yes, Diet rich in carbohydrates, suagr , dairy milk, yogurt, and paneer is the cause of high rate of Diabetes, heart disease, and cancer in India.
Recent studies have shown that plant-based diet (vegan diet) has the capacity to keep Diabetes at a bay! Plant-based diet rich in millets, vegetables, greens, and nuts is nutrious. It is really so easy to thrive on plant-based diet in India. So many vegans in India make delicious carrot halwa and kheer with homemade almond milk or cashew milk. Peanuts and rice milk is used to make vegan curd! Thanks to internet and youtube, you can find healthy and nutritious recipes.

Bhagvad Gita and Food
Bhagvad Gita is a sacred Indian scripture. Lord Krishna, the supreme God of Hindus has given wonderful tips to lead our life in peaceful way. Today, Bhagvad Gita has been translated into numerous languges across the world. Our world will be brimming with peace and prosperity if everyone follows Lord Krishna's teachings. Mahatma Gandhiji often read Bhagvad Gita, for answers to the hard questions he encountered in his life.
Nearly a century ago, Mahatma Gandhiji took a vow not to consume cow's milk when he found that cows were subjected to a cruel procedure. Mahatma Gandhi considered milk as non-vegetarian
http://www.gandhifoundation.net/about%20gandhi5.htm
Lord Krishna says that we should consume fruits, nuts, and freshly cooked food. Lord Krishna says,
we should try to eat Sattvic food in moderate quantity. Lord Krishna says that cow's milk is nectar. However, the present day " cow's milk" from is infused with harmones and cruelty. In India - land of Lord Krishna, farmers induce cows with oxyrocin harmones to produce more milk. In many countries, cows are slaughtered once they stop producing milk.
In this day and age, meat and cow's milk go hand in hand . Thousands of people claim to follow Bhagvad Gita, but relish milk and milk products such as ghee, butter and cheese. Today, I'm sure Lord Krishna would ask people to thrive on fresh vegan food - Ahimsa food(cruel-free food).

Increasing Vegans in India
Milk and milk products(ghee, paneer and yogurt) is the epicenter of lavish Indian cuisine. Milk is used to make coffee and tea . South Indians consume rice and yogurt every day. If you drink black coffee in Indian homes, people will think something is really wrong with you. In short, milk and milk products are omnipresent in Indian kitchens.
These days there is some change.
Thanks to Peta and other organizations, for exposing the heart wrenching condition of the milk producing cows across India. Farmers in India give the harmone Oxytocin to cows, to increase the production of milk .
Some Indians are becoming vegans. They are thriving on a vegan diet. It's really easy to thrive on a vegan diet in India, if you don't like dark chocolates, cakes, icecream and baked goodies.
Hats off to vegans in India. It's really hard to become a vegan in India, because the supermarkets are not flooded with yummy dark chocolates and varieties of non-diary milk.
Here is an article which says about the growing vegan interest in India.

Vegans in Mumbai
In India it's very easy to be a vegatarian, but it's challenging to be a vegan.
For many peaople in India, the word vegetarian is synonymous with the word "vegan".
Milk and milk products such as ghee and yogurt are considered to be very nutritious. In short milk and milk products play an important role in Indian cuisine.
During my recent visit to India, I did not meet a single vegan. I recently came across a blog - Mumbai Vegans. It's so nice to see that the vegan lifestyle is spreading across India.

India and Cow's Milk
It is very easy to be a vegetarian in India. But, it
can be very challenging to be a vegan in India, as
diary alternatives are not widely available across
India.
You can find soy beans and soy chunks in almost all
the stores - supermarkets and small local stores in
cities and towns. But you can find soy milk and tofu
only in supermarkets in cities such as Bangalore,
Mumbai and Delhi.
Milk products such as yogurt and ghee(clarified
butter) is omnipresent in every Indian kitchen. Milk
is supposed to be a very healthy drink. And desserts,
known as sweets in India are always made with ghee or
milk in Indian homes.
I was thrilled when I recently came across a
wonderful website by Dr.Nandita Shah. Sharan is a non-profit
organization dedicated to spread the concept of loving
nature - organic farming and veganism in India. Numerous vegan recipes
can also be found in this website.
